Rapid City Minimum Unit
The Rapid City Minimum Unit is a minimum security male facility under the direction of the Mike Durfee State Prison and Warden Bob Dooley. It opened in February 2004 at 2317 Creek Drive.
On a daily basis, inmates work on community service projects such as firefighting or helping thin timber in the Black Hills. Other inmates are on work release status, working in the community for various businesses.
The state Department of Health provides medical, dental and optometric services for the adult corrections system.
