The Yankton Minimum Center is a Level II security facility for male offenders under the direction of the Mike Durfee State Prison.

It opened in the 1970s to provide support services for the Human Services Center.

The unit supplies workers for several programs. On a daily basis, inmates work in support services for the Human Services Center, or are on work release status, meaning they hold jobs in the community.
