The Juvenile Division provides intake, placement, case management, and aftercare services for juvenile offenders who have been committed by the courts to the custody and care of the DOC. The division also oversees South Dakota's participation in the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act.

The Juvenile Division is focused on increasing the delivery of interventions to promote behavioral change and are working towards more opportunities to strengthen families so that they are better equipped to support and guide their children.
